The Russian military reportedly violated the airspace of Swedish territorial waters in the Baltic Sea on Friday for a short period of time. According to the statement released by the Swedish Armed Forces, Swedish authorities have addressed this incident and accused Russian military forces. The Swedish authorities announced that the Russian SU-24 military aircraft violated the airspace and were given a warning, but did not respond. Consequently, the aircraft was intercepted by two Swedish Gripen fighters. The Swedish military forces stated that the violation of the airspace was of brief duration.

“The actions of Russia are unacceptable and demonstrate a disregard for our territorial integrity,” said Jonas Wikman, the chief commander of the Swedish Armed Forces. “We will continue to be vigilant and take appropriate measures.”
