The Mediazona and BBC have uncovered the names of 56,452 Russian military personnel who died during the military intervention in Ukraine’s Donetsk region. The official figures regarding casualties are increasing, possibly due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. In the past two weeks alone, an additional 1,689 deaths have been confirmed. However, this number does not include the majority of the 19,547 mercenaries from the Wagner PMC. The BBC and Mediazona analyzed their names and discovered that the Wagner PMC had recruited an additional 48,366 individuals by 2022-2023, with over 17,000 of them dying during military operations in Bakhmut by 2023.
