“Prime Minister Pashinyan Proposes Shift to Cloud-Based Solutions for Government Data Storage”

After safely storing information in the cloud during the initial stage, it was discovered that the remaining servers and papers were undamaged, confirming the functionality of the cloud system. During the government session on June 14, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan brought up the topic of managing and developing the “Cloud First” program.

It is worth noting that the results of this pilot project indicate that cloud-based solutions should replace the traditional information systems used by the government. These traditional systems contain valuable data and information that need to be preserved. The Prime Minister stated, “In the future, the same data will not be stored in a single cloud, as it can be accessed from various layers. We are currently undergoing a pilot version to ensure that everything is functioning correctly.”

The Minister of Economy, Ararat Mirzoyan, echoed similar concerns. He admitted, “I hadn’t considered these aspects before. I had only imagined scenarios where the power went out for a day or the Internet cable was cut in 2019. We had plans for those situations. But if the entire system crashes due to a cyber-attack, everything can be destroyed.”

Prime Minister Pashinyan also pointed out that other countries have been deliberating on similar questions for the past 50 years. He shared, “This is the path we are taking, building on our knowledge and experiences. There have been numerous thoughts related to this matter. I remember in the 90s, we doubted the effectiveness of automatic transmission bulldozers because they struggled in the snow, sank in the mud, couldn’t gain speed, and the shovel didn’t move straight. The situation we face is similar; we need to transfer the data storage to an automatic transmission vehicle.”
