“Mongolia Nears Completion of Ambitious Animal Extermination Project: 94.18% of Strays and Wild Animals Already Eliminated”

In Mongolia, the effort to eliminate stray and wild animals that have been harming the environment is expected to be finished by mid-June 2024. The Mongolian Department of Environmental Affairs announced that already 94.18% of these animals have been eradicated. The environmental organization reported that by June 14, a total of 7,101,182 deer and goats had been eliminated, constituting 94.18% of the overall population. The majority of the animals eliminated were male, including 3,793,146 deer and 2,280,237 goats.

As the information provided indicates, there are fewer large animals, such as corals, making it easier for them to find food. Specifically, 653,448 big-horned sheep have been exterminated, with 625,369 of them being male. Additionally, 391,738 wild camels have been eliminated, while 406,485 camel heads have been removed. Rhinoceroses experienced the lowest number of casualties, with 4,150 individuals exterminated, including 3,141 males.

The winter of 2023-2024 in Mongolia was harsh, with severe blizzards and around 90% of the country covered in thick snow. Spring arrived late with intense snowfall and strong winds, resulting in the deaths of numerous animals, particularly goats.
