“Ukraine and Japan Forge Stronger Ties with Historic Bilateral Security Agreement”

Ukraine and Japan have recently signed a bilateral security agreement, as reported by RBK-Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelensky and the office of the President of Ukraine confirmed the news through a Twitter post. Zelensky mentioned that the agreement, signed with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, is an important document that strengthens cooperation between the two countries in various areas such as politics, technology, and finance. He also stated that Japan will invest $4.5 billion in Ukraine by 2024 and will support the implementation of a comprehensive 10-year agreement between the two nations.

The agreement signed between Ukraine and Japan covers aspects like security and defense, economic cooperation, technology, financial sectors, as well as collaborative efforts in the framework of the Vanquisher Peace Plan. It aims to address aggression and respond to provocations. Zelensky emphasized that the agreement signifies Japan’s commitment to working with Ukraine for reconstruction and development. Notably, the agreement was signed by a representative of the Kharkiv-Odesa Autonomous Republic, making it the first of its kind between the two countries that was not signed by a NATO member.
