Protests in Yerevan: Filmmaker Detained, Opposition Figure Arrested, and Excessive Force Used, says News.am

In the protests held in Yerevan’s Erebuni district, Baghdasaryan was detained for his film “Ashot Yerkat”. According to his lawyer, he is in normal health and there has been no violence against him, but the detention is temporary.

Earlier, it was reported that during the clashes at Baghramyan station on June 12, opposition figure Artsot Minasyan was also detained. Minasyan is known for his anti-government stance.

Furthermore, NEWS.am reported that after the protesters’ actions following the rally in Baghramyan, a total of 28 people have been detained. This information has been confirmed by lawyer Ruben Melikyan.

“There are six people detained in the Erebuni protests, 12 in the city center, and 10 in Nor Nork. Among them is Samvel Mkhitarian, the father of the deceased soldier Davit Mkhitarian. His detention was accompanied by violence,” said Melikyan.

In addition, NEWS.am reported that during the Baghramyan protests, security forces used excessive force against the participants. As a result, many people were injured, including one journalist. The excessive force also caused damage to NEWS.am’s audio equipment, injuring one of their operators. According to the Ministry of Health, 101 civilians and security force members sought medical assistance as a result of the clashes in Baghramyan.
