The recognition of the Republic of Mountainous Karabakh in Armenian reality has been misunderstood, as well as the understanding of the NKR status. On June 13, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this in the National Assembly. Back in 1996, he presented the statement of the NKR President, which included the results of the Lisbon referendum. The resolution of the NKR conflict and the issue of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity have not seen much progress. The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs proposed three principles for resolving the conflict, which include the whole territorial integrity of both Armenia and Azerbaijan, recognition of the NKR’s self-government, and guarantees for the security and return of displaced persons. Pashinyan emphasizes that since 1996, the Armenian population did not have access to the Lisbon document and lacked internet at that time. He accuses the Armenian elite of lying, misleading, and manipulating the people of Armenia.
