Government Session Time Change Sparks Concerns of Closed-door Discussion and Lack of Accountability, Protest Planned

Yesterday, we received notification that the time of the Government session had been changed. Additionally, we learned that out of the 45 questions scheduled for discussion, 44 of them would be held in a closed session. This means that neither the Government nor any authority responsible for the well-being of the people would be present in the country. Bagrat Srabazan, the leader of the “Tavush is the Homeland of Armenians” movement, shared this information during a briefing with journalists near the Government building.

Regarding their plans, Srabazan mentioned that they are currently organizing a peaceful gathering at the intersection of Baghramyan-Prosperous street. This event is scheduled to take place at 8 am. He also expressed the intention to discuss their collective actions with the first item on their agenda and the connection with the first quarter.

Earlier, NEWS.am reported on the violent actions taken by a large number of law enforcement officers during the previous day’s gathering in Baghramyan. The police resorted to using special sound grenades, resulting in numerous injuries, including one citizen losing an eye. Journalists were also among the injured. One of NEWS.am’s operators was injured in the foot due to the use of sound grenades.

According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 101 civilians and law enforcement officers sought medical assistance following the events that unfolded in Baghramyan.
