“Armenia’s State Budget for 2023: Economic Growth Accompanied by Deficit and Decreased GDP”

On June 13, the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia adopted the annual report on the implementation of the state budget for the year 2023. The report states that state budget revenues amounted to AMD 2,358,783,606.4, while expenditures reached AMD 2,547,649,891.9. This resulted in a deficit of AMD 188,866,285.5.

In 2023, the country experienced economic growth of 8.7%, with inflation projected at 7.0%. However, the GDP growth rate saw a 2% decrease compared to the previous year, reaching 12.6%. On the bright side, the level of unemployment decreased by 0.9% and stood at 14.6%.

At the end of the year, the public debt amounted to USD 11,845.4 million. Out of this total, the foreign debt accounted for USD 6,501.5 million (54.9% of the total), while the domestic debt accounted for USD 5,343.9 million (45.1% of the total).
