“Violent Clash Erupts at Yerevan Protest Rally, Investigation Underway”

On June 12, 2024, a protest rally took place in the intersection of Baghramyan and Demirchyan streets in Yerevan. However, the peaceful protest was disrupted when the security service responsible for maintaining order and protecting public safety resorted to violence against the participants. They used physical violence, such as kicks and punches, as well as various weapons. As a result, several people were injured. The Committee for State Security of the Republic of Armenia has launched an investigation into the incident, in accordance with the Criminal Code. They are examining graphic descriptions of the violence and taking measures to identify and prosecute those responsible for organizing and participating in the violent actions. The aim is to ensure accountability and transparency for the organizers and participants of the violent actions. It is important to note that the security services also used sound grenades, which caused injuries to many people, including a journalist.
