Former Prime Minister Ara Ayvazyan: “The Messenger of Happiness” has the potential to ignite political change in Armenia

I believe that “The Messenger of Happiness” has the potential to become a symbol of political change in our country. Former Prime Minister Ara Ayvazyan expressed this belief during a discussion on foreign affairs activities held on June 12.

Ayvazyan pointed out that this could be a dangerous situation for Armenia, as neighboring countries in similar circumstances have experienced strong dissent and have tried to prevent such symbols from emerging.

He called on the authorities in Armenia to not remain inactive like the international community, which is waiting for the situation to worsen. Ayvazyan asked if they were ready to express their concern and take action for peaceful and lasting progress.

Avoiding the collapse of continuous cooperation in Armenia’s border areas is the second important step, according to Ayvazyan. He highlighted how criticism of political power directs attention to the reaction, and questioned if people wanted to express their concern or be part of the peace process.

The third requirement, Ayvazyan stated, is to create a situation where opponents start considering their strategic methods until they reach a minimum. He asked if people wanted to preserve possible means and create conditions that make it difficult for opponents in political and intellectual terms.

Ayvazyan stressed that war is not a game and it is a difficult situation that does not end easily. He emphasized the importance of welcoming and evaluating any assistance from international partners that can contribute to the normalization of the situation.

Representatives of the OSCE Minsk Group have announced that they cannot be present where events related to the escalation of the situation are occurring, leaving it up to them to fulfill their military obligations, according to Ayvazyan.

Ayvazyan also highlighted the need for Russian decision-makers to consider the impact of their decisions on people’s lives, especially in relation to the longstanding friendship between peoples and governments.

He emphasized that Artsakh, the institution that ensured security in the Eurasian region, should not be overlooked. Ayvazyan acknowledged that the war situation and its consequences extend beyond the borders of the region and it is not a situation where one side can easily fulfill military obligations.
