“Unprecedented Lawsuit: Residential Exposure to Harmful Emissions from Thermal Power Plant Ignored, Lawyer Demands Independent Investigation”

According to the hospital, a scientific study has been conducted to assess the level of exposure to harmful emissions for people living near a thermal power plant. Lawyer Liparit Simonyan revealed this information in an interview with NEWS.am. Simonyan stated, “They informed me that a scientific study has been conducted which shows the presence of harmful emissions from the power plant units. This information was not communicated to my client, Mr. Avoyan, a TV correspondent based in Sochi. I am preparing to file a lawsuit so that my client can conduct an independent investigation without any interference and have the ability to leave and return.”

The lawyer explained that Mr. Avoyan is unable to change his place of residence and is currently confined to a sealed room. He requires urgent assistance and transportation by ambulance. Simonyan added, “My client suffers from various illnesses, including diabetic shocks. Due to the medications he has been taking, he has completely run out of his prescribed drugs. They need to be prescribed again following a medical examination.”

Furthermore, the lawyer warned that the medical staff of the Ministry of Health’s regional administration of Kotayk province (EC) have failed to fulfill their obligations to consult with individuals residing near the thermal power plant. He stated that they are being affected by the activities taking place in Yerevan.
