“Minister of High-Tech Industry and Wife Under Scrutiny for Undisclosed Wealth: Corruption Prevention Department Investigates Surén Papikyan’s Financial Declaration”

The Corruption Prevention Department (CPD) of the Ministry of Justice is currently unable to reach a decision regarding the declaration of wealth by Surén Papikyan, the Minister of High-Tech Industry, and his wife Armine Muradyan. According to a report by “Heter” (“Mirror”), the couple did not disclose significant sums of money received during their marriage. In November 2021, Surén Papikyan transferred his position as Minister to his wife, who is a member of the Corruption Prevention Committee. She is responsible for declaring assets, incomes, and expenses. However, the 2022 annual declaration submitted by Armine Muradyan to the CPD did not mention the cash gifts received during their marriage.

Both Surén Papikyan and his wife submitted their annual declarations on the same day, but there is a discrepancy in the declaration regarding monetary gifts. The Deputy Minister has stated that the “monetary gifts received by the minister are considered gifts from the previous year while he held the position.” The committee has also noted that “monetary gifts and assets received through the declaration of gifts are considered as annual income.”
