“Armenia-Turkey Border Checkpoint in Margara Renovated and Readied for Operations, Announces National Assembly President”

The Armenian-Turkish border checkpoint in Margara has undergone renovations and is now prepared to commence operations, announced Ruben Rubinyan, the President of the National Assembly, during a press briefing at the National Assembly on June 11. The agreement, made in July 2022, required the interstate border between Armenia and Turkey to be opened for citizens of third countries and individuals holding scientific passports, and the deadline for its implementation has already passed. Rubinyan confirmed that all necessary construction work on the Armenian side has been completed and they are prepared to initiate operations. He also addressed the Turkish side’s statement, emphasizing that no official meetings have taken place, but an agreement has been made for representatives from Armenia and Turkey to hold a scheduled meeting at a specific time and place.
