“French President Macron Expresses Condolences to EU for Right-Wing Loss in European Parliament Elections”

French President Emmanuel Macron has offered his condolences to the European Union for the loss of several prominent right-wing candidates in the European Parliament elections, according to Politico. The electoral campaign in France will be held in two phases, with the first one on June 30 and the second on July 7.

“France is in great need of peace and stability,” said Macron. “Being a French citizen means choosing to move forward rather than rewriting history.”

The decision of the National Assembly to address this issue has garnered mixed reactions from its supporters. Forecasts suggest that the right-wing “National Rally” party is set to win 31.5% of the votes, which is significantly higher than the projected success of Macron’s liberal “Renew Europe” party (15.2%). According to initial exit polls, the nationalist party’s vote share has exceeded 14%.

Supporters of the National Rally celebrated their victory when Macron announced the decision to address the issue, which was seen as an invitation for unity by his counterparts. They chanted “Solution, solution” as Macron attempted to mediate through a promenade in Carcassonne. However, Macron showed little empathy towards Marine Le Pen, the leader of the nationalist party. In response to the announcement, Le Pen issued a statement to her followers saying, “I can only welcome this decision, which aligns with the values and ambitions of the Fifth Republic.” She argued that the results of the European elections indicate the French people’s desire to return to the era of national sovereignty and protectionism.
