“Central Election Commission to Publish Election Lists on Official Websites: Details of Upcoming Municipal Elections Made Accessible to Public”

The 40th and 7th days of the pre-election campaign will now be available on the official websites of the Central Election Commission and the Internal Affairs Department. This decision was announced by Armen Ghazaryan, the spokesperson for the migration service of the NA standing committee on state and legal affairs, during a meeting of the national assembly’s standing committee on national and organizational issues. Ghazaryan mentioned that a draft law has been prepared to outline the details. The draft specifies that the initial and final election lists from the previous 40th and 7th days should be shared on the official websites of the Central Election Commission and the Internal Affairs Department. These lists will include crucial voter information such as names, surnames, birth dates, addresses, campaign dates and locations, and information about local offices.

Ghazaryan also emphasized the importance of informing citizens about any amendments to the procedures through written notifications. He explained that in 2006, electoral lists were sent to citizens through Haypost which often resulted in notifications not reaching the intended recipients. This new method of sharing information online is considered more effective and efficient, and it also helps reduce budget expenditure. Ghazaryan mentioned that nearly 270 million drams were spent on the 2023 elections in Yerevan, which involved 823 thousand voters. With approximately 2.4 million voters expected for the upcoming municipal elections, the budget expenditure may exceed 800 million drams. This estimate doesn’t even include the cost of technology tools and the time-consuming process of providing data to citizens.
