“Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Meets with EU Delegation to Discuss Strengthening Cooperation on Labor and Social Issues”

Narek Mkrtchyan, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, recently met with Maxim Longange, the head of the European Union’s delegation in Armenia. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss various work and social issues. One of the main topics of conversation was the expansion of cooperation in the field of labor and social protection.

During the meeting, there was a focus on several specific issues, such as the prevention of gender-based violence, equal rights for men and women, and the protection of children’s rights. Narek Mkrtchyan stressed the importance of the EU’s support in implementing the Gender Equality and Women’s Rights Protection program for 2024-2028, as well as the Children’s Rights Protection program for 2024-2029.

The minister acknowledged the significant role of the EU in carrying out various programs and expressed gratitude for their ongoing support. He emphasized the value of the EU’s assistance in facilitating necessary changes and providing relevant documents in the field.

Another important aspect discussed during the meeting was the need to provide services for victims of domestic violence, who fall under the umbrella of these programs. The EU’s assistance in implementing projects aimed at rehabilitating domestic violence victims, ensuring housing security, and integrating vulnerable groups was also highlighted. These initiatives will not only help develop their professional skills but also work towards preventing domestic violence.
