“Gunman Opens Fire at US Embassy in Lebanon, Motive Points to ISIS Involvement”

According to a statement from the Lebanon Bank, an individual opened fire at the US Embassy in Lebanon, resulting in their hospitalization during the exchange of gunfire. The shooter, whose identity is currently unknown, is believed to be a lover who became obsessed and radicalized. While security forces were searching for additional shooters, the individual was admitted to the hospital for treatment. The US Embassy has confirmed that an incident occurred near the entrance, but both security and staff members are safe. Intelligence sources have indicated that there is no evidence linking Lebanon to the incident. A security source in Lebanon informed Reuters that embassy security personnel sustained injuries.

The national security advisor of Lebanon, Gebran Salameh, informed NBC News that a security guard at the embassy was injured and is currently undergoing treatment. The embassy will remain closed until Sunday evening, with a security briefing scheduled for Friday, June 6, as a precautionary measure. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack at this time. However, another Lebanese security source revealed to Reuters that the incident appears to be connected to the presence of the “Islamic State” group. The source stated that the letters “ISIS” were written on the shooter’s uniform in English, while “Islamic State” was written in Arabic. Lebanese security forces’ response to the situation has generated astonishment within the organization.
