“Right-Wing Allies of Armenia’s Ruling Republican Party Accused of Conducting Defamatory Campaign, Opposition Fires Back”

According to a recent complaint made to the judicial committee, the right-wing allies of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia are engaged in a defamatory campaign against Vigen Sargsyan, a former Minister of Defense, and a member of the opposition. The opposition member referred to these allies as “megaphonists” and accused them of actively spreading false information. In his appeal to Sargsyan, the opposition member declared, “I refuse to enter the parliament with you; instead, I will seek another platform. But I will not remain silent, we will debate in the workplace. I have thoroughly studied the law, and you are mistaken.” In response, the former official belittled his opponent, stating, “You are insignificant compared to me. Whether it’s your age or knowledge, you are small.” The defamation allegations began when the opposition accused the allies and the Holy See of collaborating and confiscating files from Sargsyan. In turn, the allies accused Gegham Petrosyan of disrespect. The Holy See of Etchmiadzin retorted, “Father Petrosyan, are you intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol? Are you delusional?” Gegham Petrosyan asked who made such remarks and continued, “I could also claim that they are the delusional ones.”
