“Race for Iran’s Presidency Heats Up: Former President Rafsanjani’s Son Joins Candidates Following VP’s Brother’s Death”

The son of former President of Iran, Mohsen Hashemi Rafsanjani, has declared his intention to run in the upcoming presidential elections. This comes following the news of Vice President Ebrahim Raisi’s brother’s passing, which has likely influenced his decision. Previously, he had also expressed his desire to run for presidency after the resignation of former Vice President Mohamad Reza Aref. Several other prominent figures have made similar announcements, including Ali Larijani, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, former Vice President, Abdol Nasser Hemmati, former CEO of Central Bank, Alireza Zakani, Mayor of Tehran, Mehdi Azmayeli, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, and others. Iranian law stipulates that new elections must be held within 50 days following the announcement of the president’s death.
