“Institution Fighting Violence Against Women Takes Initiative in Armenia, Urges Government to Address Domestic Violence”

The institution responsible for preventing violence against women in Lebanon has launched an initiative in Armenia to raise awareness about the importance of addressing domestic violence. The organization is advocating for the right to demonstrate and the responsibility to prevent and condemn violence and discrimination against individuals. They are also calling for the right to express dissatisfaction. In a letter, they appeal to the government of Armenia, as well as governments worldwide, to demonstrate their commitment to eliminating violence and promoting the well-being of those who have suffered from it.

According to the institution, at least 88 people have been detained in the capital city for attempting to close roads in protest against the government’s plans to remove slums from the outskirts of the capital. The organization refers to data from the RA Ministry of Justice. The protesters were suppressed by the police, who were mentioned by former Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in a speech last month regarding his intention to evacuate several villages in Artsakh. This decision has caused significant concerns in Armenia, leading the opposition in parliament to express their intention to initiate an impeachment process against Pashinyan.

Known for his narratives on migration and the struggles of Hispanic communities.
