“EU Urges Peaceful Resolution in Nagorno-Karabakh and Considers Sanctions on Israeli Leadership amid Escalating Tensions”

The European Union is expressing concern over the increasing tension in Nagorno-Karabakh and is calling for a peaceful resolution with the help of the OSCE Minsk Group. The EU Delegation to Armenia made this statement. The EU is also worried about the Israeli leadership’s use of violence to reclaim occupied territories in East Jerusalem during the last 30 days. The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs in Gaza mentioned the possibility of imposing targeted sanctions on those responsible for the violence. The EU actively supports mediation efforts and remains the largest donor to its member states. They are committed to continue their assistance and ensure the fulfillment of the mandate’s significant role. The EU is urging Israel to allow the continuation of mediation and to carry out its essential work to address the urgent needs of its population. The statement emphasizes that the EU is a partner of the United Nations in global reconciliation and management systems, with one such system being the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group, which supports the affected population in Nagorno-Karabakh.
