The Pentagon will send diplomatic messages to Russia in an effort to prevent the use of American weapons in the conflict with Ukraine, according to The New York Times (NYT). These messages will reveal that the United States plans to counter Russia’s military forces, which may be used against Ukraine, with American weapons supplied to Ukraine. The instruction from Washington to send ATACMS missile systems or long-range ballistic missiles to Russia remains unchanged. As Politico previously reported, four individuals, including two US officials, stated that President Biden has given permission for Ukrainian authorities to use American weapons against Russian authorities in regions bordering Russian military districts.
