The completion of the Yerevan-Gyumri highway has been confirmed, a road that unfortunately saw a tragic accident resulting in the death of 12 people. The official investigation conducted by the Shirak regional investigation department of the RA Investigative Committee and the department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia revealed that a military vehicle, operated by a resident of Shirak province in an impaired condition, was involved in the accident. The driver lost control of the vehicle after being blinded by the lights of an oncoming transport vehicle and subsequently collided with a Volkswagen Crafter carrying 11 passengers. The investigation determined that the accident was caused by the negligence of the military vehicle’s driver due to household friction, fatigue, and distraction. The case has now been sent to the prosecutor for further action.
