Minister of Transport Praises Resilience of M6 Road: “Nothing Would Have Remained”

The Minister of Transport, Communication and IT of the Republic of Armenia, Gnel Sanosyan, emphasized the importance of the M6 road during a government session on May 30. He stated that if the road hadn’t been built to a high standard, it would have been completely destroyed. Despite facing challenges such as flooded areas, the road has remained intact. Sanosyan highlighted the significance of adhering to standards in ensuring the longevity and value of infrastructure projects.

The minister also mentioned the government’s plans to construct the Yerevan-Gyumri road, a 60 km route estimated to cost 1 billion dollars. He expressed confidence that the new road would overcome any obstacles. In comparison, the M6 road, which covers a 90 km stretch, was built at a cost of 50 million dollars.

As part of the M6 program, two new bridges were constructed in Alaverdi, and both have been well-maintained. The minister pointed out that the region’s settlements consist of pairs of cottages with adjoining yards, and both the oldest and newest structures remain intact.
