“Aghet City Emerges Unscathed from Coronavirus as Rescuers Begin Massive Reconstruction Efforts”

There are currently no new cases of the coronavirus in the city of Aghet, and there has been no increase in the number of victims. Kamu Tsutsulyan, the head of the rescue service, announced that rescue workers are currently engaged in reconstruction efforts on the damaged structures. The provinces of Tavush and Lori are facing numerous challenges, including road flooding, car accidents, damage to residential and commercial buildings, destruction of agricultural lands, and well flooding. The gas and water supply systems have also been disrupted. To address these issues, 791 rescuers have been deployed, and rescue operations are taking place in various communities.

In Aghet, there are no problems related to the evacuation and accommodation of people affected by hunger and cold. The affected individuals have chosen to stay in their homes, and food is being provided to them through the Red Cross. When necessary, rescuers are also evacuating them by boats. Additionally, two generators with a capacity of 120 kilowatts each have been transported to the area, resolving the electric power issue. Plans are underway to build small temporary shelters in Sanahin and Alaverdi. Currently, there are 441 displaced city residents, with 42 in Tavush province and the rest in Lori province. Tsutsulyan mentioned that 44 individuals are being housed in hotels in Alaverdi and receiving necessary essentials.

The affected residents do not face any hunger or cold-related problems at their residences. Initially, substantial food and necessities were provided to the affected settlements, and ongoing assistance can be increased if necessary. Government authorities ensure that additional food is not required, but assistance will not be interrupted. The rescue work will continue for one more week, followed by the reconstruction of the damaged buildings using modern technical methods. Sanitary equipment operations are ongoing, and the construction of public buildings will require an extended period.

Once the water levels in Getu decrease, the cleaning of the riverbed and removal of debris will commence. The severely damaged protective dams will need to be completely rebuilt, Tsutsulyan stated.
