“Brazilian President Lula Takes Unprecedented Steps to Address Gaza Conflict: Calls Israeli Leaders and Withdraws Ambassador Amidst Assassination Plot Concerns”

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva recently reached out to his Israeli counterpart, regarding the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The conflict has been a source of tension between these two nations for several months now, and thus far, negotiations have proven unsuccessful from the Israeli side. It is worth noting that President Lula has previously voiced criticism on Israel’s actions in relation to the Holocaust. In his efforts to address the situation, President Lula not only contacted Israel’s ambassador to Brazil, Itzhak Casi, but also held a public meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s National Cabinet in Jerusalem. Moreover, President Lula also got in touch with Brazil’s ambassador to Israel, Frederick Mayer, in an attempt to change the diplomatic status. However, the unrest continued as Brazil’s ambassador to Israel found himself acting without a diplomat. As per the Associated Press, sources from Brazil’s AGN have confirmed the decision to withdraw the ambassador due to his involvement in a potential assassination plot against Mayer. Consequently, Mayer has been relocated to Geneva, where he will work on behalf of the MFA and other international organizations, with the aim of representing Brazil in Holocaust-related campaigns.
