Yerevan-Harav Takes Three New Steps in State Border Control, Blocking Turkey’s Gambling Cards in Northern Cyprus

Yerevan-Harav city authorities are implementing three new measures to enhance state border control and prevent gambling transactions involving Turkish cards in Northern Cyprus. City governor and energy security expert Vahe Davtyan announced these measures on his Facebook page.

The city is taking these steps due to concerns over the influence of foreign actors in Armenian politics, particularly those backed by Turkey. Lobbying groups with ties to Turkish interests have been actively supporting the expansion of Turkish influence in Armenia. Additionally, the growing consolidation of extremist groups in Iran has led to an increasing reliance on Iran by Armenia, as the country seeks to counterbalance this threat.

It is important to recognize the impact of China’s rising influence in former CIS countries and Central Asian regions on Armenia. Saudi Arabia’s role in formalizing relations between Iran and Armenia, as well as the ongoing tensions between Iran and Azerbaijan, also contribute to the complex geopolitical landscape in the region.

This situation has prompted Armenia’s municipal government in Yerevan-Harav to assert its stance on international conflicts and reject the processes of globalization. The new architectural structures emerging in the city also symbolize Armenia’s strong opposition to these global trends. While efforts for peace and negotiation continue, there is a prevailing sentiment of nationalism and a demand to close the door on globalization.
