“Yerevan Gears Up for Modernization: New Trolleybuses and Buses to Transform City’s Public Transportation System”

Yerevan is set to get new trolleybuses as financial resources have been allocated for the purchase of 15 of them. The agreements for the trolleybuses have already been signed and they will soon be available in the city. Additionally, funds have been secured for 171 buses, which will also be arriving in Yerevan in the near future. This announcement was made today on May 27th during a meeting of the Yerevan Municipality’s executive body.

Mayor Tigran Avinyan also mentioned that the process of purchasing 18-meter buses has begun. He stated, “Yerevan is continuing to develop its fleet of buses and trolleybuses according to plan. I want to emphasize that the purchase of 18-meter buses for next year, in collaboration with our international partners or the government, was not something I had envisioned.” The Mayor also revealed that technical descriptions for the buses are currently being prepared and they will be purchased according to the city’s plan, indicating that there are no plans to switch to buses.

Avinyan added that urban transportation changes should be finalized by the end of the year and that the purchase of 250 18-meter buses is part of the plan. He emphasized the importance of staying on track with these developments and acknowledged that there may be difficulties along the way, but they must be overcome and the plans must be implemented. The Mayor also noted that this week is a favorable time for roadworks as there are no traffic jams.
