Tragedy Strikes as “Spayka” Driver Found Dead and Another Missing in Devastating Floods

One of the drivers of “Spayka” was found dead near the village of Ptghavank, and another driver is considered missing. In this regard, on May 27, the head of “Spayka”, Nikol Pashinyan, invited NKR representative Kamoy Tsutsulyan to discuss the situation.

When asked about their response to the incident, Tsutsulyan replied, “They are interested in finding their whereabouts and providing humanitarian assistance.”

Last May 26, heavy rains caused the Debed River to overflow in the Lori and Tavush regions, resulting in flooding. This led to the closure of roads, bridges, and homes, and evacuation of people. The M-6 interstate highway was also shut down. Yesterday, the water level in the “Alaverdi-Arji-Noyemberyan” section reached 530 mm, causing 16 communities’ water supply to be cut off. However, the water supply has since been restored. Unfortunately, four casualties were reported due to the heavy rain. As of today, the water levels have decreased from yesterday in various sections of the rivers, including the Debed River, Joghargyut River, Pambak River, and Tashir River. The Minister of Territorial Administration, Suren Papikyan, stated that although the flood level has not yet been assessed, it is already significant.
