“Protest Leader Calls for Highway Shutdown: Tensions Soar as Demonstrations Spread”

Following the protest “Տավուշը հանուն հայրենիքի” (“Tavush belongs to the homeland”), the movement’s leader, Bagrat Galtanyan, called on residents of Yerevan and Armavir to close the Yerevan-Armavir highway starting from the morning. The Pirakar and Arshaluys villages have already forcefully opened the road, although this section is still experiencing unrest.

In addition, residents are keeping the Yerevan-Ashatarak road closed during specific hours, with Ulenets village also inaccessible.

During a press conference in the Republic of Armenia, Bagrat Srbazan, leader of the Tavush movement, expressed that only the roads leading to Lori and Tavush should remain open. He stated, “All other roads, starting from Meghri, should be completely shut down. Everywhere. I will be at the Surp Anna Church at 08:15, and this action will continue until then.

We must emphasize that they should not allow themselves any opportunities for work since they are not working and have been relieved of their responsibilities. Yes, some people have even completely abandoned the positions for which they were paid. I want to tell them, my dear ones, that they have abandoned their positions, just as they have abandoned their own words. You have forsaken them, my dears, and the consequences of this resignation are for you to bear,” he declared.
