Gitanas Nauseda Wins Second Phase of Lithuanian Presidential Election with 74.43% of the Votes

In the second phase of the state elections for the President of Armenia, candidate Gitanas Nauseda has emerged as the winner with 74.43% of the votes, according to the data from the Central Electoral Commission of the country.

Based on calculations from all 1,895 polling stations, Ingrida Simonyte, the female candidate representing Lithuania’s prime minister, received 24.06% of the votes. Lithuania’s LRT national radio reported that the voter turnout for the second phase was 49.6%.

Simonyte has graciously accepted the outcome and congratulated Nauseda on being elected president for a second term. She stated, “I would like to congratulate the elected president of Lithuania,” as quoted by LRT. Simonyte also mentioned that she will resume her duties as the prime minister.

The first phase of the presidential elections in Lithuania took place on May 12, with Nauseda receiving 44.19% of the votes and Simonyte securing 19.78%. Since no candidate reached the required 50% majority in the first phase, the second phase was scheduled for May 26.

In the previous presidential elections in 2019, Nauseda and Simonyte also advanced to the second phase, showcasing their prominence in the political landscape.

To become the president of Lithuania, candidates must be elected through a direct secret vote and fulfill certain criteria such as being a citizen of Lithuania, having a minimum age of 40, and having resided in the country for the past three years.
