“137 Arrests Made in Yerevan Protests as Anti-Government Demonstrations Escalate”

In Yerevan, the Police Press Service has reported that 137 participants of the anti-government protests have been arrested and taken to different departments of the RA Police. These arrests were made under Article 182 of the Criminal Code, which relates to administrative violations.

It is important to note that the protests against the government began early in the morning in Armenia, resulting in the closure of the Yerevan-Ashtarak and Yerevan-Armavir highways. Bagrat Aristakesyan, the leader of the march, personally closed the road, as he had done previously. Additionally, other protesters closed various streets including Baghramyan-Saayat-Novas crossroads, Azatutyun, Mashtots, Tigran Mets, Koryuni, Moskovyan, Ter-Yan, and Ancient Yerevan streets.

Among those arrested are Arthur Sarkisyan, the head of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF), Igor Khachaturov, and the singer Ars.
