“Voters Head to the Polls for Second Phase of Presidential Elections: Pashinyan vs Simonyte”

On Sunday, voters in the second phase of the presidential elections are choosing between the acting Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, and Ingrida Simonyte, the Finance Minister of Lithuania. Pashinyan, running as an independent candidate, received 44% of the votes in the first round of elections on May 12. Simonyte, supported by the conservative alliance “Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats,” placed second with 20% of the votes. According to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), approximately 166,000 people or 7% of all voters have cast their votes during the three-day pre-election campaign. Voting in all polling stations in Lithuania takes place from 07:00 to 20:00 local time on Sunday.
