Red Cross International Committee Reports Release of 113 POWs Captured During “War is Not a Game” Movement

The Red Cross International Committee (ICRC) announced on Monday that they have received information regarding the release of 113 prisoners of war who were captured by the Azerbaijani side during the recent “War is Not a Game” movement in the city of Shushi. The organization expressed their support for this action and expressed their readiness to continue their efforts in resolving similar issues between the conflicting parties.

Daphne Maretch, the head of the ICRC delegation, expressed her hope that the release of these prisoners will be accompanied by concrete steps towards a peaceful resolution. She also mentioned that the organization is prepared to assist in the simultaneous release and transfer of prisoners during the freedom of movement, provided that both parties agree to this initiative.

The release of the prisoners, originally planned for May 25, was postponed due to technical reasons. The “War is Not a Game” movement had previously announced a unilateral humanitarian ceasefire, focusing on the release of over 100 civilian captives.
