A national crisis occurred in the NKR, Lory, and Tavush region centers on May 25, 2024, at 23:00, with multiple alerts being received in Yerevan City, Lory, and Tavush Regions. These alerts reported numerous incidents, including building collapses in construction centers, flooding, water pollution, and the consequences of flooding in the Debed, Aghstev, and Tashir rivers. In response, the MES has announced a rescue operation.

One of the major impacts of the flooding was the collapse of the 31st km section of the M6 highway that connects Vanadzor to Alaverdi, with a section of approximately 50 meters being washed away. In addition, several houses in the Erazum neighborhood of the Yeghvard-Kanaker highway were flooded. Other incidents include the Opel car marker sign falling into the river in Shnogh village, resulting in one victim, and a truck becoming trapped in the water on the Alaverdi highway, with one person missing and two citizens on the windshield. The city of Alaverdi also reported flooded houses and landslides.

Tragically, a 31-year-old citizen drowned in the Debed River near the Karakop neighborhood of Alaverdi municipality. The individual had been reported missing since 8:00 am. Another drowning occurred in Achthala village, where a pedestrian crossing the Debed River was found drowned. Additionally, there are likely to be flooded neighborhoods and displaced pipes on the railway tracks and buried channels.

Significant flooding has completely submerged several areas, including the M6-Alaverdi section of Alaverdi city, the Sanahin neighborhood, the Santaheen road, and the bends of the M6 highway. The Sanahin church, located in Alaverdi city and connected to the Alaverdi bypass road of the M6 highway, has also been completely flooded. Other affected areas include the Sandutta waterfall on the M6 highway, as well as railway bridges and sections that have been completely flooded.

In the Pambak region, the M6-Kobayr-Joragetedh section of the highway has experienced complete road washouts in multiple areas. Three cars were damaged due to flooding in this section. As a result, about 70 residents of the Joragetedh neighborhood, where the Kobayr-Joragetedh highway is flooded, have been transferred to safe areas.
