“Stand Up, Armenia Movement Plans Major Rally Amidst Calls for Change”

The “Pasta” newspaper reports that on May 26, at 16:00, the “Stand up, Armenia” movement will hold a rally called “Revival of Tavush, the Motherland’s pride” in Republic Square. Besides the rally, there will also be various organizational, cultural, and informative activities, as announced. Catholicos Bagrat Srapantsi has emphasized that the rally on May 26 is an opportunity for people to get answers to their questions about the war’s progression and the possible resignation of the Prime Minister. However, he also acknowledges that the rally is not the only effective way to address these issues.

Nikol Pashinyan, the leader of the “Stand up, Armenia” movement, is actively organizing meetings with different professional groups, civil society organizations, media representatives, and individuals with physical disabilities to hear their suggestions and concerns. In recent weeks, Bagrat Srapantsi has had numerous active meetings, including ones with professional groups, high-ranking officials, and the media. These activities have garnered attention and had various political and public consequences due to important announcements made during these gatherings.

It is worth noting that this movement has demonstrated an organized stance and has taken on significant challenges and events. Their initiatives, statements, and political activities conducted at the highest level of the Armenian Apostolic Church have prevented general panic in the country. Bagrat Srapantsi is becoming more active during these days, ensuring the vigilance of the remaining activists. People are eager to protect their rights, even without participating in what is considered as the political landscape.

It is crucial to emphasize that political actions should not solely be based on resources and manipulations. Today, it is evident to many that demands, dissatisfaction, or any action cannot be automatically labeled as political maneuvers. Even when organized, they carry more responsibility than being mere political events. Therefore, it is essential to assess the people’s movements systematically, especially during times of political changes, without the involvement of temporary governance.

Furthermore, it is necessary to understand the consequences beyond the change in leadership within the Armenian Apostolic Church and the potential resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The survival and preservation of the church’s cultural and national values, as well as the physical condition of the territory of Armenia, are at stake. The danger of external forces capturing and abusing Armenia looms large.

As countless acts of violence and abuse occur, Bagrat Srapantsi’s influence weakens during these days. People yearn to protect their land while representatives of nationalistic ideologies even question whether to accept it or not. It cannot be dismissed as a mere political affair, as it encompasses incidental events. However, it will be of utmost importance to understand the consequences and differentiate between instructional actions and political maneuvering.

The most pressing question is what lies ahead and whether a temporary government will be established. The possibility of temporary governance based on professional principles should be considered, followed by discussions about general elections. It is crucial to maintain the rule of law from the onset of any movement, without the involvement of manipulators and political subversion. The recent days have shown that public gatherings can be held with great enthusiasm, even without direct political involvement.
