In an unprecedented operation, four individuals have been arrested for the illegal possession and smuggling of four vehicles using counterfeit documents. Among the suspects is the mayor of Stepnakert, Davit Sargsyan. The Armenian State Commission for the Protection of the Economic Competition and the General Department for Combating Corruption, Economic Crimes, and Smuggling carried out preliminary investigations and discovered that these individuals were part of a group involved in significant smuggling activities. They had forged documents and provided them to others involved in smuggling operations. Three of the suspects have confessed to smuggling goods worth 19,100,000 Armenian drams, including four vehicles. They have been charged in accordance with specific articles of the Criminal Code. The investigation is ongoing to gather more evidence and determine further details.

The State Commission for the Protection of the Economic Competition and the General Department for Combating Corruption, Economic Crimes, and Smuggling is conducting the investigation based on relevant provisions of the Criminal Code. They have also registered the seizure of the mentioned four vehicles associated with three of the suspects. The investigation is still underway to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the case.
