“Armenian Prime Minister Holds Productive Phone Call with EU High Representative, Discusses Enhancing Cooperation and Regional Issues”

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, and Joseph Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, recently had a phone conversation. They discussed various matters related to Armenia’s external affairs and the security of its political system. The meeting, which was announced by the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focused on continuing cooperation between Armenia and the European Union. Both ongoing programs and new initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation were discussed. In particular, they assessed the results of the “Armenia’s Passport and Future” program supported by the EU, as well as the new RA-EU itinerary led by the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They also discussed important progress made in establishing a visa-free regime and negotiating mutually agreed terms.

The conversation between Ararat Mirzoyan and Joseph Borrell also touched on regional issues. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of continuing the process of liberal democracy that began in 1991 with the Declaration of Independence of Armenia. He also highlighted the significance of the relationship between the leaders of Armenia and the EU. The head of the RA State Border Guard Service concluded that achieving necessary progress in implementing signed agreements would be possible through the final agreement on cooperation. Additionally, other concerns were raised during the discussion.
