Shiba Inu, the beloved mascot of Doge, a Japanese cryptocurrency, has sadly passed away in Japan. The owner shared the news on their blog, expressing gratitude for Kabosu’s unconditional love throughout their time together. Kabosu peacefully left this world early in the morning on May 24th, with the gentle morning light and the sound of birds singing as witnesses, while the owner remained by their side. The owner affectionately referred to Kabosu as the most extraordinary dog in the world, making them the luckiest owner with the most extraordinary companion. The funeral will be held on May 26th to honor Kabosu’s memory.

Kabosu, born in 2005, rose to prominence when local photographers noticed her near her owners. Her master, who worked as a volunteer at an animal center, discovered her and subsequently started a blog dedicated to Kabosu and other animals in 2009. By 2010, Kabosu became the iconic face of Doge’s internet memes. Her owners named her Kabosu, likely because her adorable face reminded them of a cute black nut fruit.
