Tragedy Strikes Yerevan: Young Man Fatally Hits Moving Car with Motorbike

There was a severe accident in Yerevan near the shore of Sevan, resulting in the death of a young man who had collided with a moving car while riding his motorbike, according to SRF reports.

On Wednesday evening at 20:00, passers-by alerted the police to the incident, which occurred near Almavir Park on the shores of Lake Sevan. When authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered the severely injured bodies of a woman and a man.

Preliminary information suggests that the woman, who was riding the motorbike, died on the spot despite resuscitation efforts. The woman’s identity remains unknown at this time.

A criminal case has been initiated, though it is still unclear whether the man and the woman on the motorbike were acquainted with each other.

According to police records, this was the third time the man had struck another person on Wednesday evening, resulting in multiple injuries.

Authorities are currently investigating how the motorbike driver ended up colliding with individuals in a pedestrian area, and efforts are underway to clarify the overall situation. The police have not disclosed any information about the man, citing concerns about his mental health.

“Such an incident has never occurred in Yerevan until now,” stated Mayor Hayk Marutyan in an interview with Blick. Apart from an incident involving a child last year, there have been no issues in the pedestrian area prior to this unfortunate event.
