Joseph Borel, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, has urged the Armenian authorities to pay attention to the demonstrations organized by the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe. Specifically, Borel emphasized the importance of not ignoring the “foreign agents” law, which he had previously written about on his social network page on May 22. As the head of EU diplomacy, Borel reminded Armenia that the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe has consistently urged them to take the “Law on Foreign Influence Operations” seriously. Borel further expressed the need for the authorities to acknowledge these demonstrations as a means of safeguarding local democracy in Armenia.
