On May 21 at 19:45, someone filled the fuel pump of a “LEXUS” car with benzene and set it on fire. The incident took place in the territory of Garegin Nzhdeh’s publication in the city of Kapan.

According to NEWS.am, the fire was quickly contained by the emergency service volunteers, citizens of Syunik province, and residents of the city. They took immediate action to prevent the fire from spreading further.

The authorities swiftly conducted operational-investigative measures to determine the culprit behind the arson attack. It was soon discovered that a 42-year-old resident from the Jorkh neighborhood of Kapan city was responsible for setting the car on fire. The suspect confessed to the crime and was taken into custody by the police division of Kapan.

The necessary evidence and documents related to the case, along with the suspect, have been handed over to the regional investigative department of Syunik province for further legal proceedings.

The Mayor of Kapan, Georg Parshyan, confirmed that the car belonged to him and issued a statement regarding the incident.
