We are fully prepared for this movement to be successful and lead to a change of government,” said Serzh Sargsyan, the Third President of the Republic of Armenia, during a meeting with journalists on May 22nd.

When asked about the justification of Nikol Pashinyan’s resignation through street protests in 2018, Sargsyan responded, “Let them rise and let the people judge. Let them sweep away the dust, let the waters flow. We have no desire to return. We do not need a change of government, but we need a change in attitude towards power.”

Concerning the possibility of returning to the process of resolving the issue of self-determination and demarcation of the border with Azerbaijan if there is a change of power, the third president stated, “We are not concerned with self-determination and demarcation itself, but rather with the methods by which this process is carried out. We want the process to align with international practices.”

When addressing the principle of Almaz Atayev, Sargsyan mentioned, “I refer to the announcement made today by Almaz Atayev in our conversation. It resembles a part of the Khunbishian principles, as there were no principles there. Yes, there was an announcement by Almaz Atayev, a letter of resignation, but what principles are there? There was an announcement about the Moscow Protocol signed between the Soviet Union and the administrative bodies of the Armenian SSR in 1988. This map certainly exists, but you don’t know why it wasn’t provided.”
