Armenia’s Minister of Education Presents Reforms and Achievements at International Education Conference in London

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia, Arayik Harutyunyan, recently presented the reforms and achievements in the educational system of Armenia at an international conference on Education in London. During his presentation, the minister emphasized the ongoing importance of education in a rapidly changing world, highlighting the need for sustainable development and positive progress. He outlined the main priorities of the educational system in Armenia until 2030, aiming to establish a high-quality education system that caters to individual needs and ensures comprehensive development. To increase effectiveness and competitiveness, the minister proposed measures such as establishing educational and cultural centers, improving educational programs, internationalizing services, and integrating financial mechanisms.

In addition, the minister announced the introduction of inclusive education in 20 educational institutions, covering various fields of study, starting from 2023. He also emphasized the importance of vocational education and training based on the needs of the labor market. Addressing scientific education and research, the minister highlighted the need for a conducive environment for scientific projects, including the creation of research centers and the regulation of rights and responsibilities within educational institutions.

The minister also discussed the “Academic City” program and the development of scientific and digital skills as crucial for academic education. During the conference, he had a meeting with representatives from London’s College of Design to discuss educational cooperation under the “Academic City” program. The conference, attended by representatives from 114 countries, provided an opportunity for the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia to meet with representatives from the United Kingdom and Ireland. The discussions covered various issues, including the recognition of academic credits, international diploma supplements, joint educational programs, student and teacher mobility, harmonization of educational systems, and research and development cooperation. The UK expressed its willingness to actively participate in and contribute to these processes.
