“Armenian Government Faces Hurdles in Referendum Preparations as Arrest Made in Controversial Case”

On May 21, 2024, an official announcement was made regarding the progress of internal operations. It stated that preparations have begun for the implementation of a referendum to determine the public’s confidence in the government’s ability to ensure the country’s stability and national security.

The main focus of the referendum, as reported by NEWS.am, will be on the review of the Constitutional Committee’s decision-making process, the principles of the founding charter, and the cooperation between external and internal political forces in the Republic of Armenia. The aim is to address the concerns of citizens who have not been clearly informed about the government’s intentions. The goal is to establish a dialogue and create conditions for public participation in decision-making processes.

The referendum is scheduled to take place on May 26, 2024, according to Article 1 of the 419th article of the Armenian Constitution. However, the individual responsible for initiating the mentioned actions has faced unforeseen obstacles. The organized referendum process has been exposed by members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.

Despite the difficulties, the referential provisions of relevant documents submitted by the individual have been accepted by the preliminary hearings of the judge, as confirmed by the latest legal examination. H.G, who initiated the actions, has been arrested and the trial is ongoing.

Measures are being taken to facilitate the process, including ensuring the transparency of information and clarifying the situation for individuals affected by this case. NEWS.am is present on Telegram for further updates.
