“Prime Minister’s Controversial Statement: Armenia’s Acquisition of 4 Villages Sparks Boundary Debate”

Why does the Prime Minister claim that we took those 4 villages instead of receiving them, citing our opportunity to define our boundaries? During an interview with journalists in the National Assembly on May 21, the President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, made this statement. In response to a question about urging people to leave their homes in Artsakh, Alen Simonyan said, “Firstly, the Prime Minister himself left, and this is not the first time he has done so. If some of our partners do not leave, do not complain, and do not jeopardize the lives of people and soldiers… What are those who left saying? Who was the first to leave? Pashinyan, on Monday.”

When asked about the residents’ response to the offer, Simonyan mentioned, “If they do not accept, the government will find an alternative solution. I can assure you that we will not replicate the situation in Northern Poland, where people were forcibly deported and their homes were given to a criminal gang. We will engage in dialogue with the people, persuading them until an agreement is reached. The Republic of Armenia will not punish its citizens or allow any harm or insult to be inflicted upon them.”

Regarding these villages, Simonyan expressed confidence that they would become exemplary villages within a few years and predicted a landslide victory for the QP party in the 2026 elections.
