“President of Artsakh Explains Absence from ‘Fatherland Is Stolen’ Meeting, Urges Unity Movement to Continue Protests for Hostage Liberation”

Why do you think they should be here, those who have joined the movement “Fatherland Is Stolen”? There are many other districts. Speaking during a press conference on May 21, Gagik Baghunts, the President of the National Assembly of Artsakh, addressed the question of why Artsakh’s President, Samvel Sahramanyan, did not participate in the meeting with the leader of the “Fatherland Is Stolen” movement.

“Let’s not engage in speculation,” urged the spokesperson. Baghunts confirmed that Sahramanyan is actively involved in the ceasefire and the restoration of relations between the two countries.

“He does not engage in provocative actions or external demonstrations,” stated the spokesperson. He also emphasized that it is inappropriate to associate provocative actions with the Armenian population. Baghunts reminded everyone that during the liberation war in Karabakh, they protected not only Artsakh but also Armenia. He clarified that no one is blaming the leadership of Artsakh for the issues faced by the second government of Armenia.

Baghunts acknowledged that there are many people who are eagerly waiting for the nationwide unity movement, “Fatherland Is Stolen.” The spokesperson emphasized that the security issue of Armenia and Artsakh can be resolved by uniting every Armenian. He stated that the Armenian people should be aware of the need to address the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century and take steps to ensure their security. Remaining stagnant is a sign of underlying insecurity.

The spokesperson concluded by stating, “We have already suffered the consequences of not using a language of strength to address the hardships faced by the people of Armenia. The crisis in Artsakh and the Republic of Armenia was provoked by the leaders of the state, not ordinary citizens.” He called for the continuation of the protests to free the hostages from Azerbaijan.
