On May 21, an emergency situation occurred in the Syunik region. Residents reported to the Interior Ministry’s Crisis Management Department in Yerevan that a car near the building of the Kapan municipality and culture was on fire. A similar report was received about car number 54 of the Kapan volunteer fire brigade. By the time firefighters arrived, the front part of the parked “Lexus lx 570” car with license plate 055 QQ 55 was already on fire.

The car is serviced by Kapan Mayor Gevorg Parsyan but is registered with “Norogshin” CJSC and insured by “Nairi Insurance” company. In case of any emergency, Grigor Parsyan will be contacted as his phone number is registered with the APA due to previous car issues.

Authorities suspect that the car may have been intentionally set on fire. Official documents have been drawn up in the Crisis Management Department of the Kapan municipality and transferred to the Syunik regional administration of the RA NSS.

The National Security Service of Armenia’s Syunik regional department and the investigative group of the Syunik regional administration of the RA Police are currently investigating the scene.
