Protesters Continue to Block Road to Kirantsi Village, Raising Tensions and Stalling Liberation Project

The road leading to Kirantsi village remains closed due to a large number of protesters, as reported by NEWS.am’s correspondent. Recently, Bagrat Srbazani was able to reach Kirantsi, highlighting the tense situation on the closed road where protesters are blocking security forces and journalists. Furthermore, there are reports stating that the liberation project in the Kirantsi region is almost finished, with Armenian border forces taking control over the liberated section. However, the operation is currently on hold to facilitate necessary work. Kirantsi village council’s head, Kamo Shahinyan, expressed concerns about houses and other residents in close proximity to the border under Azerbaijani occupation.

In Tavush region’s Kirantsi village, the National Security Service is actively preparing to protect the territories within the border boundaries, but specific details are yet to be disclosed. Meanwhile, negotiations between the border guards of Armenia and Azerbaijan are expected to take place for about 8-9 days to address unresolved issues in the Kirantsi region where tensions remain high. It is worth mentioning that the central sector of the intermediate road connecting the two countries passes through Kirantsi, prompting the government to plan the construction of a new bypass road within a 2-3 month timeline.
